PGY-5

DYLAN BROKAW, MD 

Dylan was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, but spent his time growing up in Orlando, FL. He later moved to North Carolina, where he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and earned degrees in Chemistry and Biology. He then attended UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine for his medical degree. In his spare time, Dylan enjoys running, rock climbing, hiking, and most of all spending time with his wife, son, and dogs.

LUKE SHADIOW, DO

Luke was born and raised in New Palestine, Indiana, and attended Butler University for his undergraduate degree in chemistry. He then attended Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical degree. During his free time, he enjoys staying physically active with cycling and weight lifting, reading, cooking and spending time with his wife and family.

CRYSTAL ZHANG, MD

Crystal was born in Beijing, China and moved to the U.S. when she was 4 years old. She was raised in the metro Detroit, Michigan area and went to Wayne State University for her undergraduate, graduate, and medical studies. In college, she double majored in Nutrition and Food Sciences and Asian Studies: Chinese. After completing her MD/MPH, she moved to Chicago, IL and completed a Preliminary General Surgery year at Loyola University Medical Center before coming to Ascension St. Vincent. For leisure, Crystal enjoys playing piano and violin, watching professional basketball, football, and tennis, making origami and papercraft projects, and traveling and experiencing new places, cultures, and cuisines.

ROBERT DORENBUSCH, DO

Robert was born in Indianapolis, IN, but grew up in Columbus, IN. He is the middle of three brothers. He attended the University of Notre Dame for his undergraduate education where he obtained a B.A. in English. Following graduation, he attended graduate school at the Indiana University School of Medicine where he obtained an M.S. in Physiology. For medical school, he attended Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine and was a part of their fourth inaugural class. Outside of work, Robert enjoys reading, biking, cooking, and playing sports like basketball and rec league softball. He is an avid sports fan of Notre Dame football, the Indiana Pacers, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Indianapolis Colts.

GAVIN MCGRATH, DO

Gavin was born in Lansing, Michigan but raised in Warsaw, Indiana. He attended Bethel University for undergrad where he played tennis and majored in Cell and Molecular Biology. He went to Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical degree. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching any sports, hiking and outdoor activities, boating, reading, and spending time with family.

SOFIA CABELLO BERMUDEZ, MD

Sofia is from Puerto Rico. She received her Doctorate in Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico. She enjoys hiking, traveling, working out, and spending time with her dog Santiago. 

IAN FRINK, DO

Ian grew up in Greensburg, IN. He received both his Biology, B.S. and Neuroscience B.S. from Indiana University. After graduation he worked for a year and then enrolled into the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program at Marian University College of Osteopathic medicine. Shortly thereafter, he was accepted into their Doctor of Osteopathy program. Ian is proud to be serving as a captain in the United States Army Reserve. His interests outside of work are woodworking, grilling, running, and playing guitar.

KATRINA THEDE, MD

Katrina was born in Madison, WI and grew up in Columbus, OH. She attended Case Western Reserve University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Music, her primary instrument being the violin. She then attended medical school at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH where she earned her medical degree and a Master of Business Administration. Following medical school she trained at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, MA in general surgery for one year before joining the surgery program at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. In her spare time Katrina enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, and all water sports. In addition she is an amateur nail artist and can be found showing off new designs almost daily.

MICHAEL GREEN, MD

Mike was raised in Attica, IN and West Lebanon, IN. He went to Wabash College for his undergraduate education where he earned a degree in Biology. After graduation he attended Indiana University School of Medicine where he was a member of the Rural Medical Education Program in Terre Haute. Outside of work, Mike enjoys cooking, stand-up comedy, boating, archery, and weightlifting. He is a devoted Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Braves fan.

MICHAEL NEWMAN, DO

Michael grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended University of Michigan where he earned an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience. He spent time as a pharmacy technician and earned a paramedic license before moving to Indianapolis to attend medical school at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, grilling, hiking, snowboarding, and watching college football/basketball.

DIEGO TAPIA, MD

Diego was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, a beautiful city in the middle of the world surrounded by Mountains and Volcanos. He went to Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador School of Medicine. Diego enjoys playing the drums and guitar, hiking and playing videogames.

SEON WOO KIM, MD

Seon Woo was born and raised in South Korea. He went to Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar for his medical degree. During his free time, he enjoys watching movies, playing guitar, and biking. He is also an avid traveler and likes all kinds of spicy food.

VICTORIA NICKERSON, MD

Victoria was born and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, and attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for her medical degree. During her free time, she likes to spend time outside hiking, snowshoeing, and ice skating. 

KATHERINE POWELL, DO

Katherine was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN.  She attended Purdue University where she got her undergraduate and graduate degrees in biomedical engineering.  She completed her medical education at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  During her free time, Katherine enjoys hanging out with her dogs, playing sports, lifting weights, reading, attending concerts, and completing DIY projects.
